Nelson Mandela once said: “Sport has the power to change the world, it has the power to inspire.” He added, “It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.” This inspiring message is something that the Val de Vie Foundation has taken to heart.

We believe that sustainable early childhood intervention is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. One of the Val de Vie Foundation’s primary beneficiaries, Hope Through Action (HTA), shares this vision by using sport to provide a safe and educational environment to foster early childhood education.

HTA works with children from impoverished communities, specifically Mbekweni, Franschhoek, and Swartland, striving to ensure these children have brighter futures beyond their current circumstances. In these areas, youths are impressionable, making them vulnerable to gangsterism and substance abuse if not supported early in their lives. With SCORE as their implementation partner, HTA equips these children with practical life skills needed to become independent and responsible adults, paving the way for better lives one day.

Using sport as a vehicle, the HTA coaches create a stimulating environment for youths and have seen many from these areas selected for various sports leagues through their programmes. It remains our goal to positively impact the lives of those in vulnerable communities, specifically the youth who are full of potential.

Funding organisations like HTA remain dear to our hearts as it serves as an investment in the lives of future generations. We thank Hope Through Action for their amazing work and vision in transforming the lives of our vulnerable youth.
