The Val de Vie Foundation, in conjunction with Swingfit, tested the biomechanical skills of 151 aspiring Mbekweni golfers on the 26th of September at the Hope Through Action sports centre in Mbekweni.
Our partner, Hope Through Action, recruited 8 to 12-year-old learners from the local schools and promoted the event in the local community. Swingfit, together with the community support coaches and translators, were extremely proficient in their talent identification. The Pearl Valley Golf team also enthusiastically supported the assessment, with Damian Wrigley (Director of Golf) and Aliki Brunt, Golf Committee Member rolling up their sleeves and guiding the young golfers.
After short-listing 33 players, Swingfit and Hope Through Action will select 8 golfers for complimentary lessons at Pearl Valley’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Val de Vie Estate, based not only on their skills but willingness to learn.
The lessons will run from 9 October – 14 November 2018. Transport to and from Hope Through Action Sports Centre, equipment and golf shirts will be provided. The Pearl Valley Golf team will then select 2 of the very best to progress to an advanced program with the aid of the Pearl Valley Golf Youth Program.
