Andiseka Mfanta, 26, grew up in Mqanduli, Eastern Cape, as the middle child among five siblings. Raised by her mother in a rural environment, she learned resilience, responsibility and the value of hard work from an early age. Today, she lives in Mbekweni, Paarl, where she continues to build her future through determination and steady progress.

In February 2026, Andiseka attended the Elevation Programme, a Val de Vie Foundation beneficiary, after seeing it advertised on social media. What began as curiosity became a turning point: the programme provided practical skills and guidance that deepened her self-awareness, strengthened her sense of responsibility for her decisions, and shifted her mindset towards creating opportunities rather than waiting for them. It encouraged her to live more intentionally and hold herself accountable each day.

A key component of her journey was the Work Readiness Programme. It taught her the importance of completing tasks properly, pursuing personal growth, and resolving workplace challenges calmly and professionally. She became more responsible and learned to approach difficulties constructively.

The programme also instilled practical habits that transformed her daily life. Her punctuality improved, and she now prioritises being on time and prepared. She adopted better grooming, hygiene, and workplace attire practices, which increased her confidence and helped her present herself more professionally.

After completing the training, Andiseka was offered an opportunity to work at Boxer as a cashier. The role provided more than a pay cheque; it validated the mindset shift the programme had inspired. She applied the professionalism, communication skills, discipline and punctuality she had developed during the programme. The job gave her hope, purpose, and a tangible opportunity to build a better future.

Andiseka emerged from the programme more responsible and confident. She credits the Elevation Programme’s Work Readiness course with providing the practical tools that prepared her not only for employment but also for building a life she is proud of.
