Hannelize Fredericks is a 23-year-old from Wellington. Raised with seven siblings, she witnessed her parents’ unwavering dedication and support throughout her life. Like many young people, Hannelize faced challenges, particularly when navigating the transition to the workforce. In July 2023, she found a turning point through the Elevation Programme’s Work Readiness Programme.
Despite weather-related obstacles in getting to and from the Elevation Programme due to limited transport, Hannelize persevered, motivated by the programme’s promise to equip her with essential life skills. She gained insights into personal development, relationships and career growth, developing a crucial understanding of workplace dynamics and culture. Most importantly, the programme helped her overcome debilitating self-doubt and build the confidence she needed to succeed.
Armed with newfound confidence and a clear sense of purpose, she embarked on a focused job search. The results were swift and transformative. Hannelize secured a position at Indigo Brokers, where she is now actively upskilling herself, determined to reach her full potential. For Hannelize, the Elevation Programme’s Work Readiness Programme was more than just a course—it was a catalyst for change, proving that with the right support, even the most challenging journeys can lead to remarkable success.
The joy of seeing a young person like Hannelize secure a job, discover their passion and regain belief in themselves is immeasurable. Supporting organisations like the Elevation Programme, a Val de Vie Foundation beneficiary, makes this possible, reminding us of the profound sense of purpose that comes from investing in their transformative work.
