Now in its 11th year, the Proteas of Mzansi initiative has grown from the local favourite, Proteas of the Valley, to a nationwide celebration of extraordinary women making a profound impact in communities across South Africa. These women, known as “Proteas,” embody resilience, leadership, and compassion as they tirelessly work to create positive social change.
On 29 August, in an unforgettable evening supported by the Val de Vie Foundation, the initiative honoured 10 remarkable women during a formal dinner event held at the beautiful Kronenburg venue in Paarl. The event marked the culmination of an exciting two-day celebration, where the selected Proteas enjoyed a luxurious stay at the Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis, fine dining, and pampering with hair and makeup before stepping into the spotlight. The evening featured a heartfelt performance by spoken word artist Puno, who honoured the Proteas with a powerful performance.
The celebration not only recognised these inspiring women but also gave them the opportunity to share their stories with guests, supporters and influencers. The atmosphere was filled with admiration as each woman’s journey was highlighted, demonstrating the power of resilience in the face of adversity and the far-reaching impact of their community work.
A Collective Journey of Hope – The Proteas of Mzansi initiative not only celebrates these women but also shines a spotlight on the incredible work being done across South Africa. By sharing their stories, the initiative aims to inspire more people to take up the mantle of leadership and make a difference in their communities.
