Mosaic, a beneficiary of the Val de Vie Foundation, exists to piece together the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.
A group of four siblings, who have been attending Mosaic since 2021, were placed with two different foster families. Focusing on two of the brothers, *Peter (8) and *Daniel (10), they were placed in the care of their paternal grandmother, where they unfortunately did not receive the emotional support they needed. During this placement, their behaviour deteriorated, which also affected their educational performance.
Recognising their greater need for care, Mosaic’s family support team sought further insights and ensured the brothers were placed in an environment that met their physical and emotional needs. Following assessments by a psychologist, it was discovered that the boys were emotionally detached and anxious, which explained their desire for affection. The team sprang into action, working closely with the allocated statutory social worker and clinical psychologist to find a placement that best suited their needs.

The boys were subsequently placed in a Child and Youth Care Centre, where they have lived for three months. They have settled in well, are happy and content and are adapting to their new school. Their behaviour has also improved tremendously and they are now engaging in activities and socialising with adults and peers. To support their emotional development and sense of security, the Mosaic team arranges regular video calls with their brothers, ensuring they remain connected with their siblings.
The Val de Vie Foundation continues to support and fund Mosaic Community Development and their work in the social impact sector. This story highlights their intervention and constant effort to go the extra mile for their beneficiaries.
