Monte Christo Miqlat (MCM), a Christian-based charity organisation and beneficiary of the Val de Vie Foundation, is strategically supporting community members in need—whether through food, shelter, job skills, healthy activities, safe spaces, healthcare and social services, or education. Founded to achieve tangible, sustainable improvements in the lives of society’s most vulnerable, MCM concentrates on early childhood development (ECD), orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), as well as home- and community-based challenges.

Situated in Paarl East, many babies and schoolchildren face unsafe environments filled with neglect and abuse. Without physical, emotional, physiological, and spiritual support, cycles of slow development, illness, disease, and poor social habits continue. Teenage pregnancies and single-parent households are common, leaving young mothers without adequate parenting skills or role models, especially in the absence of father figures, which raises the risk of neglect. Low levels of employment and skills trap families in these cycles, but MCM works to break them through training, job creation, and mentorship, creating lasting change.

MCM is delighted to have launched a new Baby Class with a dedicated classroom at its Tiffany Community Centre for babies whose mothers work during the day. A specially designed, inviting space has been created, feeding directly into the next phase of education, with focused stimulation to spark curiosity about the world. Two sisters from Paarl generously volunteered their talents, painting the sweetest motifs on the walls to create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.
