Mihlali Dladlu, 23, grew up in Newrest, Paarl, as the youngest of five siblings. He experienced the loss of his mother at a young age and was raised, along with his siblings, by his aunt. The challenges of that season—navigating life without his parents—taught him early on the value of critical thinking and making wise decisions, lessons that have shaped the person he is today.
An opportunity for growth presented itself through a Val de Vie Foundation beneficiary, the Elevation Programme’s Work Readiness Programme, which Mihlali’s sister introduced him to. Little did he know the profound impact this initiative would have on his life. Participating in the programme became a journey of self-discovery, unveiling his capabilities and potential.
The work readiness aspect of the programme proved to be a transformative experience. It equipped Mihlali with the vital skills and knowledge needed to confidently step into the professional world.
