In celebration of Youth Month earlier this year in June, a beneficiary of the Val de Vie Foundation, the Paarl Youth Initiative, continues to shine as a beacon of hope and growth for young people in the region. At a recent community bazaar, learners from the Initiative’s Interact Club and their Entrepreneurs’ Club stepped forward not just as participants but as active changemakers.
The Interact Club learners organised and led engaging activities for the children attending the event, taking on the roles of “young mentors,” entertainers and community builders. From running games to performing in clown costumes during a puppet show, their joy and commitment created lasting memories for the little ones and taught the learners the value of service, empathy and leadership.

Meanwhile, members of the Entrepreneurs’ Club took charge of a cold drinks stall, tackling practical work-related challenges such as managing stock, handling cash and engaging with customers. It was more than just a fundraiser, it was an opportunity to develop essential life skills in teamwork, financial literacy and public engagement.
This initiative provided learners with practical experience in planning, problem-solving and leading with compassion. It also strengthened their sense of purpose and community connection. Events like these are more than just enjoyable, they serve as powerful platforms for growth, where young people find out what they are capable of and start shaping their futures with confidence.
We celebrate the Paarl Youth Initiative for igniting potential and building the next generation of capable, compassionate leaders.
