Val de Vie Estate residents recently took part in celebrating Universal Children’s Day at Hope Through Action, a beneficiary of the Val de Vie Foundation, in Franschhoek. Over three joyful days, from 19–21 November, more than 300 pre-schoolers arrived each morning to a centre filled with the sound of singing, laughter and excited little voices.

The residents volunteered alongside the Hope Through Action team, playing traditional games, face painting and even learning a few new dance moves from the children.

A highlight for everyone was the unexpected arrival of the fire engine and firefighters, who excited the young audience while sharing essential safety lessons at home.

The event was a lively success and a lovely reminder of the strength of community, connection and creative play.

A heartfelt thank you to Centre Manager Athi Ndamane and his team for hosting such an uplifting celebration and to resident Vanessa Barnes for coordinating the volunteers and bringing her experience as a retired teacher to the morning’s activities.
