The Val de Vie Foundation recently launched an initiative to provide fresh, organic vegetables from the Val de Vie Wellness Farm to local organisations in need. This initiative offers Val de Vie Estate residents a chance to make a difference and show their support by donating a weekly crate of vegetables to one of three incredible local organisations: Huis Andrew Murray, Athlone House of Strength or Drakenstein Centre for Persons with Disability.
These organisations serve three nutritious meals daily to the individuals in their care and often rely on grants and donations to fund these meals. Each crate donated is filled with fresh, seasonal, organic produce harvested and packed weekly by the Val de Vie Wellness Farm team and goes a long way in easing the budgetary constraints of these organisations.
Since the campaign’s launch at the Gardening & Wellness Market on 5 October at the Val de Vie Wellness Farm, we have already received two generous donations to the value of R18,000. These donations have enabled Huis Andrew Murray to receive 72 weekly crates of fresh vegetables. So far, two crates have been collected by the team at Huis Andrew Murray, and the children in their care are already benefiting from these nutritious meals.
Huis Andrew Murray (HAM) in Wellington provides daily care for 155 children, aged 1-18, who have been orphaned or removed from parental care. Their mission is to ensure each child’s emotional and physical needs are met, allowing them to thrive within their community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the residents who have contributed so far and encourage anyone else who would like to donate towards this initiative to sign up via the links below. Every donated crate makes a big difference in supporting these organisations and their vital work.
