Often thrown into the deep end when entering the workforce, the Elevation Programme ensures its beneficiaries are well-equipped with the necessary skills and mindset to persevere and secure employment.
Charlene deeply values her family and lives in Carterville (Egoli) with her mother, siblings, and young daughter. She learned about the Elevation Programme in 2022 while passing by Colibri Hall in Wellington. After enquiring about the organisation and its programmes, Charlene decided she would like to attend. Having previously faced challenges with job security, she had experienced discouragement and disappointment.
With a rough start entering the workforce, Charlene felt disheartened. A turning point for her, however, was attending a programme at Breakthrough Restoration Church that gave her hope for the future. With newfound strength and determination, Charlene committed to the Elevation Programme’s Work Readiness Programme. The workshops aim to cultivate work ethics, impart job-hunting skills and familiarise participants with scholarships and funding opportunities.
Despite logistical challenges, Charlene ensured she attended all the workshops. “Through comprehensive training and personalised career assessments, the programme helped me gain a clearer understanding of my strengths, interests, and career aspirations,” Charlene said.
Charlene’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and its transformative impact. After completing the programme, she secured a learnership at the Municipality of Paarl. Her success story inspires us all to believe that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
