The Khula Development Group recently visited Rusthof Old Age Home in Paarl, bringing a heartfelt token of appreciation to its elderly residents.

In recent months, the home has reached out for assistance, as financial strain has made it increasingly difficult to meet the needs of its residents. Khula, an organisation dedicated to supporting primary school learners at risk of dropping out, primarily serves children from vulnerable communities in the surrounding area. Recognising the importance of connection, Khula’s facilitators and coordinators decided to extend their support to Rusthof Old Age Home with a visit.

Community worker Ianthea August shared an inspiring biblical message and distributed biscuits along with handmade cards crafted by the learners. This simple yet profound gesture brought joy to many at Rusthof, as the Khula scholars wrote touching letters of appreciation, bridging the gap between generations and reminding the often-overlooked elderly that they are cherished and not forgotten.

This visit beautifully demonstrated how even small acts of kindness can make a significant impact. We take great pride in supporting organisations such as Khula and Rusthof, both being beneficiaries of the Val de Vie Foundation, which make such meaningful contributions to their communities.
