Located in Paarl, Athlone House of Strength for Abused Women and Children works to provide residential shelter and refuge for abused women and their children, offering them an environment in which they can feel both loved and accepted.
In celebration of Women’s Month, the Val de Vie Foundation hosted a flower workshop in aid of Athlone House, to honour the courageous women in their care. To ensure that each of the tables at the Athlone House women’s day event looked extra special they needed floral arrangements. The Val de Vie Foundation donated the flowers and reached out to Estate residents to help create beautiful centrepieces.
On a cold and rainy morning in August over 25 residents came together to curate the centrepieces, under the expert guidance of Anja Taschner, Val de Vie Estate resident and owner of Cosmafolia. Bright, vibrant blooms were gathered, and the result was 25 joyful centrepieces, the perfect accompaniment to a very special high tea.
At the workshop, the Val de Vie Foundation presented Athlone House with bedding and towels, generously donated by the Pearl Valley Hotel operated by Mantis.
