From orphan to university graduate, Vusi Sese’s journey is truly inspiring. Shortly after the loss of his mother and aunt, Vusi joined Mosaic Community Development in 2009 as the second family supported by the organisation. At the time, Vusi was just 11 years old, living with his grandmother in a township that faced significant challenges due to a lack of infrastructure and resources.

At the Val de Vie Foundation, we understand that the success of young people begins at a foundational level. By supporting organisations like Mosaic Community Development, we can impact the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children and help shape the future leaders of tomorrow.

When Vusi joined Mosaic, he had no clear goals or vision for his future. However, through extensive workshops, educational programmes, and strong leadership, his potential was nurtured and developed. During high school, Vusi decided to work hard, aiming for university acceptance and ultimately earning a degree in Social Work—a field he chose because of the social workers who impacted his life when he was orphaned.

From a young orphan with no direction, Vusi embraced the opportunities provided by Mosaic and is now a qualified social worker with an Honours degree. His journey serves as a true inspiration to Mosaic’s beneficiaries, as he was part of the very first Mosaic programme.

Vusi recently shared the exciting news that he will be starting a new position as a social worker in the UK. He is grateful for the exposure and support he received from Mosaic, which allowed him to dream big and achieve his goals.

The Val de Vie Foundation congratulates Vusi and the Mosaic team on his success and wishes him all the best in the UK, where he will continue living out his passion for helping those in need.
