Christmas came early this year for 43 young learners in our Valley.

On December 9th, The Val de Vie Foundation funded the Khula Development Group Paarl branch Grade 4 learners’ Christmas Party.

These young people had recently graduated from the Khula programme where they were successfully reintegrated into the schooling system.  These children, due to several push and pull factors, were at risk of dropping out of school before they became part of the Khula programmes. We are honoured to have supported Khula in their life-changing work since 2015.

The party was a wonderful culmination of the time spent on the programme.  A fun day was had by the children and volunteers alike at  Graceland outside of Paarl.  Fun activities included playing games and wooshing down very long water slides. The highlight of the day was when they were surprised by Elmo Cairncross ( AKA Santa) who is a Khula Board member and Val de Foundation volunteer Santa for 5 years.  He handed out gift bags filled with stationery for their next school year.

One of the Khula Social workers also gave a talk on how to stay safe during the holiday. Daleen Labuschagne, Programme Director, said “ Khula wants to thank all their donors and particularly the Val de Vie Foundation for their continual support and love for our children!”
